Sakai Takayuki Homura Guren - Forged by Master blacksmith Itsuo Doi, the Guren series of knives made an immediate impact when the team at Knifewear got a hold of them due to the unique shapes and elegant kurouchi finish, not often seen from Blacksmiths in Sakai. Forged with Aogami No.2. and clad in softer iron, this series of knives have a heft to them, which means they'll make great workhorses in your kitchen.
About the Shape - This is the knife for smaller jobs that are done on a cutting board. Perfect for slicing shallots, cutting herbs, and boning smaller proteins. Additionally, Petty knives are an indispensable tool for those who feel uncomfortable wielding a larger chef knife.

"This is the knife I never knew I needed - now I use it all the time!"
"This lil dude rips."
"This is a fantastic knife forged by a true Master! The blade feels heavy in-the-hand, sturdy and substantial. The finish is rugged yet elegant. Love the little origami pine coal chip from the forge. The tip is razor sharp for delicate work. Someday, hope to get the matching Gyuto."
"I loved the look of this knife and wanted to have a knife from Doi. Shipping was great and the knife was in excellent condition and sharp! Love the handle. Will be my go to petty!"
"The team was incredibly knowledgeable. This knife was one of their first recommendations and I instantly knew it had to come home with me. The knife is well balanced and I find it has become one of my go tos."
"Great knife. The tip of the knife is very sharp and the knife is perfect for precision cuts."
"This was my first foray into the world of Japanese knifes. While this is not a high end blade, relatively speaking, it performs beautifully! Easy to sharpen and holds a thin edge very nicely. A great addition to one's knifeware and a pleasure to use; I just want to keep on cutting!"
"First off the handle is gorgeous, and for a petty knife it feels very comfortable in my hand, doesn't feel small or cramped like my other small knives. The edge and steel is very durable, putting up with being my go to knife in a small and crowded workspace in a busy restaurant. Definitely see myself buying another piece by this blacksmith if not this same line."
"Nice balance, gorgeous shape, does great work with smaller tasks. Great use of the fabulous Blue #2 steel."
