Wa-handle Rehandling Services

Wa-handle Rehandling Services

Need a new handle? We've got you! Whether you're replacing a damaged handle, or you've spotted another handle in our store that you now have your heart set on, you can bring your knives to us for professional rehandling services. Wa-handle rehandling services are offered at our Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver locations!

Depending on handle availability, we can turn rehandling requests around in 48-72 hours, and we will give you a call when they're done! As always, before bringing us your knives, please clean them well and protect them with plastic blade guards or disposable materials such as newspaper.

Rehandling FAQs

How do I get my handles replaced?

  • Just bring your knives to any of our locations (Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Toronto or Ottawa). Not near either of our shops? Then mail your knives to us! Click here for mailing instructions.

What if the handle I want isn't available at my selected store?

  • No worries! We regularly move handle inventory around based on need, so if you plan on stopping by for rehandling and your preferred Wa handle isn't available at your store, we can restock them at your requested store so you can turn your knife into a one of a kind kitchen staple.

Can I bring in my own handles?

  • At this time, this is not something we are able to offer. We cannot verify the integrity of Wa handles that are made elsewhere by manufacturers unassociated with Knifewear, and we don't want to attach a handle to your knife that isn't built for it.

How do I choose a handle?

  • If you're indecisive, we get it! There are many different Wa handles to choose from, and they're all stunning in their own ways. Feel free to reach out to us at any time, and we'd be happy to work with you to find a handle that truly speaks to your style.

Can we choose a Western handle instead?

  • At this time, Western rehandling on Wa handle blades is not something we're able to offer, due to the way Western blades are constructed. The rivets on Western handles are not compatible with Wa handles.

Treat yourself

"I recently brought my embarassingly dull knives to Knifewear team for a little TLC. As always, the service was fast, expert and, best of all, fun. I mean who doesn't want to talk knives and other cooking gear with smart, funny, playful folk who absolutely love what they do and always have at least one cool new addition for your kitchen arsenal. Treat yourself and your knives to their sharpening services."

Great service!

"I had 5 or 6 knives to be sharpened. I dropped by and the first thing I was told was that if I was willing to wait in the store, they would be able to do them right away! Yeah! The second thing I was told was one of these knives was from their store and the first sharpening is free! Double yeah! And finally my knives were sharpened perfectly so all that makes me a big fan of Knifewear! Triple yeah!"

quick sharpening

"Had meant to swing by for a sharpening for a long time and finally did. Walk-in and got two Japanese knives sharpened immediately. Have been sharpening myself properly for years but professional sharpening key for removing a few nicks, plus a superior edge"

Sent in for tip correction and it chipped immediately

"I have to say I am pretty bummed it took almost a month to get the knife back and then the first time I used it the tip chipped immediately. It also came back honestly not that sharp. It’s a bummer because I’ve had nothing but really awesome experiences with knife wear, but this is honestly pretty disappointing."

Always exceptional

"Always come here for anything knife related, been buying my knives for the past 5 years from here and always get them sharpened her and am never disappointed by the quality of service or the customer care and attention to detail. I recommend them to everyone, I work in kitchens and my coworker also uses knives from here they are second to none. If you think you don't need a new knife, get your knifes sharpened here at least"

knife sharpening_ 8"chef’s knife

"Points for friendly staff and a welcoming laid back vibe in-store, carrying a nice selection of high quality kitchenware and knives. I was happy they offered to do the sharpening right away instead of having to return another day for pickup. Surprisingly it only took about 5 min. The knife was sharp at first, slicing through tomatoes with ease, but this didn’t last more than 5-6 weeks, This knife isn’t even used on a daily basis, I would it expect it to stay sharp longer. The middle of the knife is sharp, but the top and bottom sections are not. I have 3 more knives that require sharpening, but I’m not sure I will be returning for this service"

Q&A

Hi There, I just recieved my new Dalstrong 10.25 knife today, and wanted to get it oiled and sharpened. This is my first expensive knife, relatively speaking...Lol. I have heard alot about your service, and read all your reviews, can you help me out me out? Thanks, Lou
Hey Lou, we can totally help you out, out of the box, it should be pretty sharp, but if you are finding it lacking, bring it in and we can tune it up for you. Most of the Dalstrong knives are stainless steel, so you likely don't need to oil it. The big thing I'd recommend is a ceramic honing rod (https://knifewear.mom/products/ceramic-honing-rod-black), if you don't have one of these, you'll want to get one, as it'll help keep your edge super fine for much longer! - Ellie
Do you just do knife sharpening? I have an old paper cutter that needs sharpening.
Hey there, if you bring it in, we can take a look and see what we can do. Are you able to remove the blade from the cutter? - Ellie
Do you sharpen Cutco knives?
Hey Wendy, we absolutely do! Just bring them by and we'll get them sorted, the smaller ones are 10 and the larger ones are 15 for reference! - Ellie
Hello Knifewear, Any idea when you might be getting back into running knife-sharpening workshops? Thanks,
We don't have a start date yet for classes but you can sign up for our newsletter on our website and it will be announced there when we start again. There will also be posts on social media!
Can you sharpen Tweezerman tweezers? If so, how long does it take and what is the cost?
Hey Judy, Odds are that we cannot sharpen the tweezers as we usually can't make them fit on our stones. You could always bring them in to one of our shops and we would happily take a look at the possibility of us being able to do them. We would let you know immediately whether or not this can be done . Let me know if you have any other questions, Alex
