Scale Material

This is the ultimate folding knife inspired by famous higonokami; every detail has been carefully considered and improved up. It can be easily opened and closed one-handed, and the rock-solid liner lock keeps the blade perfectly fixed while you cut with it. The pocket clip can be repositioned to your liking, while the brass scales will age and patina, changing over time. This is the knife to last you a lifetime.

Poor design aspects. Run away, don't walk.

"Purchased to add to my knife collection of carried knives. Am sorry I didn't take more time to hold and consider it. I echo both reviewers John and Paul H. For such a beautiful knife of brass and shiny steel, it really fails in my view, of being something excellent like I consider most Japanese items. The 'tang' of metal you would put your finger or thumb on to flip the blade into 'battery' is very sharp at its point. This rips pockets if carried inside and is unpleasant to touch. All 'unsharpened' edges of the blade are not chamfered, not even a tiny bit and thus are very sharp edges, something I find very uncomfortable for a pocket carry knife. The blade does not fit 'down' into the scales as deep as it could or should. I have no idea why it was designed this way and to me seems like a huge fail. Why have scales if not to cover the blade? I feel like if I'm going to keep this knife, I will have to remove the blade, chamfer the edges, round/soften the tang and remove metal so the blade slips into the scales like every other folding knife in history. Pro's are it is heavy (feels solid and isn't plastic), has brass scales which will develop patina over time and the knife is sharp and will take a good sharpening. The lock is solid, the blade hinge is solid. Con's are it just isn't made for pocket carry and it isn't overly 'soft' in the hand. Blade doesn't sit inside scales which seems like a design failure. Every time I hold it I want to sell it and be done with a failure of what I have come to view Japanese products as. It is NOT worth the asking price with these flaws in design."

Not What I Expected

"Not really what I was looking for. The blade doesn’t lie flat between the scales and I wasn’t sure it would stay closed in my pocket"

Okay From A Distance

"Not a functional item. Looks great but doesn’t easily fit in a pocket and the Aus 8 steel is far to basic to justify this price point."
