About Haruyuki Goma - Haruyuki knives are beloved among professionals and home cooks alike for their reliable, high-performance blades. they’re perfect for folks buying their first Japanese knife, and the performance is impressive enough for knife nerds like me to get a thrill from using it!
The Haruyuki Goma is one we’ve had since the early days of Knifewear, and it continues to be a staff and customer favourite. The stainless steel blade is made from a material called VG10, which is super sharp and easy to care for. This stunning blade sports a hammered ‘tsuchime’ finish that transitions to a polished bevel with layers of damascus steel. The effect is like waves crashing on a rocky beach under the moonlight.
Haruyuki knives are made in a way that combines ancient Japanese tradition with efficient modern technology: blades are forged by machine for unparalleled precision, consistency, and affordability. Skilled artisans complete each step lovingly, from polishing and sharpening the blade to affixing its handle.
About the Shape - This is the knife for smaller jobs that are done on a cutting board. Perfect for slicing shallots, cutting herbs, and boning smaller proteins. Additionally, Petty knives are an indispensable tool for those who feel uncomfortable wielding a larger chef knife.

"The sharp blade made quick work of every task we threw at it (including a perfect apple peel and beautiful orange segments). Worth the Spend!"
"My Petty is slightly longer in the blade than I am used to but the more I use it (daily) the easier it gets. I love this knife and it cuts right through my veggies with ease and precision. Thank you!"
"Excellent quality blade and handle. This is the second knife I have purchased and have been very happy with the product."
"Great handle, sharp out of box"
"Initially bought this knife for the purpose of deboning whole chickens, as a Honesuki was out of my price range. Boy did it not disappoint! I was able to debone 6 whole chickens in about an hour. The knife glided through the meat with ease, and i was able to run the blade along the bones easily to separate the meat. There were trouble areas where the heel of a Honesuki would come in handy to cut through the cartilage tho. The blade is long enough to make one full slice, but short enough to keep your hands close to the work. The tip of the blade is small enough for precision work. Unfortunately there is no flex to this blade. I was able to even slice through some tips of the knuckles on some bones, without putting any pressure or forcing the knife through. I just sliced and sliced some more."
"Very knowledgeable honest staff that expertly helped me pick out a knife for a gift."
"Great fit, style, and function. Wicked sharp and nimble."
"I love this 135mm Goma petty knife. I'm used to having western knifes and this is far superior. The handle gives great stability and my hand is able to grip very easily without slipping. You will find this knife has very little weight to it so easy for turning vegetables or more delicate work. The package was ok but I decide to have mine on display."
"I bought this to combo with my 210mm Haruyuki Goma Gyuto. It’s a fantastic knife for smaller tasks. The edge is very sharp and cuts easily."
"An amazing knife that I'vIt's very well made and feels great in the hand. I especially like how the oval wood grain pattern of the handle matches for all of the knives. Excellent craftsmanship and amazing attention to detail. I love using these knives. I bought this petty knife and the gyuto 10 years ago, and I just picked up the nakiri of the same line today. Extremely impressed with the Haruyuki Goma line. - I dislike when people mishandle my knives.e been using for 10 years"
