Some facts about this tiny banger of a knife: If it wasn’t glaringly obvious, it was designed for children to learn with. It features a rounded tip and heel for extra safety and comes in three radical colours (yellow, blue, pink). The blade is adorned with a chicken, fish, a happy tomato, and a smiley face that inexplicably has only one eyebrow. I often wonder what happened to that extra eyebrow. Did he lose it in a tragic accident?

About the Shape - The Ko-Bunka is a smaller version of a Bunka. Any guesses on what “Ko” means in Japanese? You nailed it! It translates to “small.” This little knife is awesome because it still gives you knuckle clearance on the cutting board. Making sure you can mince garlic and comfortably chop veggies. A badass love child of the Bunka and Petty knife, it works for smaller jobs in the hand or as an all-purpose blade.

"Grew stater knife for kids. Don’t be fooled by the appearance; it’s sharp! Smaller handle and blade depth make it easier to handle."

"great to teach kids"
Great for the kids and adults
"The knife came sharp and ready to go. The balance is great and the rounded edges are so nice for the kids. I immediately started teaching my 7, 9, and 12 year old how to cut with it and we've been cooking together most days since. I also love how the knife is tall enough for adult knuckles to get under without mashing them into the cutting board. Despite the fact that I have a perfectly good Nakiri, I love using this knife for small jobs like herbs, fruit for snacks, etc. I love my Carbon Steel knives, but they can be a chore cleaning them all the time for small things. Sharpening is super easy. Very happy with how long it's been holding an edge so far."
Small and handy
"It’s our daily driver for my family. Its sturdy cuts though veggies nicely and is easy to clean and maintain. Highly suggest to those who don't want people using your fancy knives 😅"
"Perfect for my 6 year old. She loves it!!"
Q&A
- Do these come in a box? Or do you recommend a knife guard for these?
- These do not come in case but you could get a 150mm blade guard for it. It'll be a little big but it'll cover it.
- what steel is this?
- Hi Michael! The steel in these knives is molybdennum vanadium, also known as Moly V. You'll find this steel used in Tojiros Red handled series and is what the brand Global uses in their knives as well. It is a softer stainless steel that takes on a great edge but is also very resistant to chipping. These little knives are quite high performance but have the tip and heel blunted so that whoever is using doesn't accidentally poke themselves. They're great for children as well as clumsy adults. Let me know if you have any other questions, Alex
