As demand increased, Joseph moved the company to Pont de Govoudaz to create a larger facility, innovating new knife-making machines, training workers, and bringing electricity to the village for the first time ever! Nowadays, Opinel is an internationally recognized design. Their minimalist designed has hardly changed, save for innovative new styles and the use of higher-quality modern steels.

"I have a No. 8, which I really like. The No. 10 is also great, as I appreciate the larger size. The beech handle is pretty and comfortable, the blade is slender so makes it very slicey. These have been around a long time and the design is not trendy, which is also a plus. Also low cost to buy! A knife should cut, and well. This is what it does!"
