WoodForChef have created a saya that is practical for everyday use on a wide variety of knives.
Made from beautiful cherry wood, the saya employs a unique silicone band and spine-notch system to work with as many different knife lines as possible, both Japanese-style handles and Western. Simply slide your knife in, put the silicone band over the knife’s handle and stretch it to hook into the spine-notch.
Depending on the shape, this should accommodate knives that are 51mm tall or shorter, and 3.3mm wide spines or narrower.
While “Universal” sounds, well, universal, this is a one size fits most situation.
We have tested this saya, and it fits knives from:

- Moritaka Hamono
- Tadafusa
- Nigara Hamono
*Knives tested were 210mm gyutos, we cannot guarantee the fitting of 210mm kiritsukes.
